Description

A fine original oil on canvas 'On the Lledr' by highly regarded artist William Mellor c.1900. Superbly painted with mellow late summer colours and gently flowing waters. Cattle watering with woodland set to the sides. William Mellor (1851-1931) was born in Barnsley and painted extensively in Yorkshire, the Scottish highlands and in North Wales, and is regarded as one of the best artists of his times. Signed by the artist to the bottom left and the subject inscribed to the rear by the artist. Presented in excellent original condition with no damage or repairs. Set in a quality swept timber gilt frame. Measures 36" wide x 26" high. Stock number CS393.
