Description

A Fine Early 18th Century brass cased Lantern clock made by Richard Sanderson of Wigton* (w.1704-29). 6" dial with engraved centre and single pointer. Verge escapement to the bell striking movement. Sat on a polished oak wall bracket. Clock measures 6" square x 15" , bracket measures 8" square x 21"long. Full working order.
*Richard Sill was an apprentice to John Sanderson of Wigton, Cumbria. This is one of his earlier clocks bearing Sanderson's name. He made approximately 30 longcase and lantern clocks in total. See Brian Loomes Northern Clocks book page 61-64.
