A mid Victorian silver vesta case with inset quahog clam shell lid c.1870. The silver case following the form of the shell with engraved base and snap closing lid, opening to reveal a clean interior with match striker to the inside of the lid. The deep purple polished quahog clam shell lid with decorative scalloped boarder and engraved mounts to the ends. Hanging loop to the top. Tested as silver but unmarked. Beautifully made and presented in excellent condition with a deep shine. Measures 3" long x 1.5" wide x 1" high. Stock number TBA.
