An early James I period oak six plank sword box with wonderful colour and polish c.1600. Six plank construction in hand sawn oak with hand moulded edges. Simple well worn moulding to the lid and matching moulding to the front plank. Hand forged strap hinges to the lid and leather patch where the lock once sat. Sat on full length stiles, never reduced in length and with wonderful rich colour, patina and character. Measures 38" long x 12" deep x 19" high. Stock number 42864.
