A quality early Victorian figured rosewood seven fronted drawer secretaire Wellington chest in superb original condition c.1840. Figured rosewood top sat over graduated drawers all with solid ash lined interiors; the drawer fronts with figured rosewood veneers and original turned knobs. The centre two drawers pulling out with the drawer front falling forward to form a writing surface with green baized surface; fitted drawers and pigeon holes to the rear. Molded plinth to the base and figured rosewood sides. Pilasters to each side of the drawers with carved corbels to the... top, plus the right pilaster with working lock and key, which forms a locking bar for the drawers. Presented in excellent condition with a rich unfaded colour and deep polish. Measures 22" wide x 15.5" deep x 50.5" high x 29" high writing surface with the secretaire open. Stock number 43287.
