An Edwardian umbrella or parasol with fine quality silver ducks head handle, hallmarked Birmingham 1910. Slim polished bamboo stem with brass and mahogany tip to the base, silver collar and handle. The handle formed as a ducks head with embossed and engraved decoration, amber glass inset eyes to both sides. The sprung steel frame is fully operational with no damage or repairs. Original black fabric covering has some minor damage, as to be expected after over 100 years, and has the original makers rosette to the centre of the umbrella, which is visible when it is open. The silver handle bear...s the makers mark for Birmingham silversmiths John Satchwell & Co along with clear hallmarks. Presented in excellent condition but with some deterioration to the fabric covering. The diameter quoted is when the umbrella is open and the width quoted is across the handle.
