Description

A unusual Edwardian period solid silver string or wool holder in the form of a cage, hallmarked London 1908. Circular form in two halves, each section with quarter inch wide straps running from a circular support at the outer edge to the central ring; the top section with hanging loop. Hinged opening with beaded decoration to the rim of each half, internal bar to place through the ball of string or wool to allow it to rotate when dispensing. Bears the makers mark for Birmingham silversmiths C & W Padgett. Presented in immaculate condition with a deep shine. Measures 3" wide x 3" high. Stock number 38682.
