A Fine Mid Georgian oak and mahogany cross banded 8 Day longcase clock.c.1760. Silvered engraved centre dial with gilt spandrels to the corners. Date aperture and seconds count. Strikes on a bell to the hour. Made by Thomas Ashton of Macclesfield.(w.1760-95). Unusual fruitwood inlaid panel to the moulded cornice hood and spiral twist columns. Reeded columns to the shaped door case. Raised panel and canted corners to the base. Superb colour and condition. Fully overhauled. Stands 82"high.
