A fine quality early Victorian small proportioned burr walnut secretaire cabinet with fruitwood stringing and original decorative handles. C.1840. Moulded rounded edge to the fruitwood strung top, three dummy drawers to the front forming the fall front for the secretaire drawer pulling out to form a leathered writing surface with a well fitted interior of drawers and pigeon holes. Matching fruitwood strung door with gilt brass grill to the centre with silk behind. Opens to reveal a shelved interior. Matching fruitwood stringing to the sides. Superb quality, colour and polish. Measures 24" wide... x 16" deep x 40.5" high. Writing surface height 30.75" high.
