A fine quality George III period oak and mahogany cross banded 8 day brass dial longcase clock C.1770. Slim case with reeded quarter columns to the trunk and matching pillars to the hood. Original lacquered panel to the hood sat below the moulded cornice. Canted corners to the base, sat on the original bracket feet. Cross banded with mahogany through out. Engraved brass and silvered dial with Roman numerals to the chapter ring, bears the makers name Charles Edward Gillett, Manchester. Subsidiary seconds dial and calendar to the dial centre. 8 day bell striking movement fully restored. Height ...81.5", width at hood - 20" and depth at hood - 10".
