Fine Regency Rosewood Adie Sympiesometer

A Fine Early Victorian rosewood cased sympiesometer (an improved air barometer) made by Adie, retailed by Young of Glasgow.c.1830. Silvered engraved scale and bevelled glass front. Stepped pediment to the top and base. Original bone adjuster to the side. Superb colour and condition. Fully overhauled. Measures 27"long x 5.5"wide x 2"deep. * Alexander Adie of Edinburgh(1775-1858) patented the sympiesometer (an improved air barometer) showing a connection between air pressure and temperature. he was optican to William IV and Queen Victoria.
