An unusual George I period oak ribbon fronted table chest with lifting lid and single drawer c.1725. Hinged surface overlapping the base, the shape mirroring the base. Two drawers to the ribbon shaped moulded front, the top one being a dummy drawer. Sat on a pronounced moulded rim with original shaped bracket feet below. The top lifting to reveal a divided interior, the drawer below pulling out to reveal a clean interior. A very unusual item, probably originally for deeds and valuables, presented in excellent condition with a rich patina, original lock escutcheons, later hinges and handles,... but in the original holes and correct style. Measures 16" wide x 10.5" deep x 10.5" high. Stock number 38847.
