A stylish George I period walnut bureau with superb fitted interior and original brass fittings c.1720. The exterior with figured walnut book matched veneers and herringbone crossbanding. Fall front with book rest to the lower edge of the slope, panel above the waist with two over two drawer formation below. The framework between the drawers with double cock beaded effect, broad moulded plinth to the base with bun feet bellow. Pull out lopers supporting the fall front. The bureau front opening to form a leather covered writing surface; fitted pigeon holes, cupboard and drawer...s to the rear with two small drawers and pigeon holes sat either side giving a waterfall effect. Internal well to the rear of the surface with sliding cover. Excellent rich colour and polish with original engraved brass fittings and presented in excellent useable condition. Measures 34" wide x 20.5" deep x 40" high to the top of the back x 31" writing surface. Stock number 42614.
