A superb George II period lantern clock with rare two train movement and original verge escapement C.1730/40. Engraved silvered chapter ring and stylized rose design engraved centre with decorative castings above to all four sides. Bell stand set above supporting the original bell with turned finial to the top. Matching finials to all four corners of the base and top, the bottom ones at the rear holding the original forged iron wall spikes, hanging loop above. Rare two train English movement, probably from the South East of the country and of Quaker origin. Bell countwheel striking on the hour..., with one rope driven train for striking and the other for the clock. Original verge escapement with short decorative bob pendulum to the rear. Superb condition, full working order with period hand forged pointer. Good patination and sympathetic polish to the case. Delivery and installation available. Measures 16" high x 7" wide x 8" deep.
