A George II period oak coffer with carved top rail and superb original patina c.1730. The hinged top with three panels and stop moulded frame, original hook and eye hinges to the rear edge. Two panel base with matching stop moulded frame, full length stiles and carved top rail decorated with lunettes; original forged steel lock plate to the centre. The hinged lid opening to reveal a clean interior with original candle box set to the side, the candle box lid acting as a support to hold the coffer lid open. Superb original rich colour and original patina, presented in excellent original ...condition. Measures 40" wide x 16.75" deep x 19" high. Stock number 40100.
