A George II period oak cased Westmorland 8 Day longcase clock.c.1740. Made by sought after maker, William Powley of Appleby (1681-1768). Brass and silvered arched top dial with rare calendar aperture to the centre. Gilded spandrels to the corners. Reeded pillars to the fretted top swan neck pediment hood. Shaped top door to the canted reeded corner case. Strikes on a bell to the hour. Full working order. Superb mid oak colour and patina. Slim proportions measures 84" high to the top of the finial.
