A George III mahogany stick barometer with engraved silvered scale and thermometer by J Gobbi, London c.1800. The slim mahogany case and architectural pediment to the top. Feathered book matched veneers strung with fruitwood to the outer edge of the trunk with visible mercury action barometer tube set to the centre. Turned cistern cover to the base inlaid with fruitwood to the centre. Engraved silvered scale with vernier marker and red alcohol thermometer set to the side, sat behind a glazed hinged door. Bears the makers name J Gobbi & Co to the scale. Fully overhauled and working,... the casework with original rich colour and patina. Measures 38" long x 5.5" maximum width and 3" wide at the trunk x 2" deep at the pediment. Stock number 38921.
