A George III period oak box stool with lifting lid and carved front panel c.1800. Hinged single plank top with scalloped ends, the front panel with carved lunettes. Planked sides and back with four short turned legs set to corners supported by a base stretcher. The hinged lid opening to reveal a clean interior with original hand forged hinges. Superb quality and condition with a rich colour and original patina. Measures 19.5" wide x 10" deep x 18.5" high. Stock number 40627.
