A fine quality George III period figured mahogany secretaire chest in superb condition c.1790. Figured timber top with moulded edge sat over a serpentine front with book matched figured timber veneers to the graduated drawers. The top two drawers forming a pull out fall front secretaire with outstanding original fitted interior; comprising of two sets of five drawers to each side and two wider drawers to the centre with pigeon holes above. Black tooled leather writing surface at standard desk height. Cast brass oval fittings, sat on the original foot with swept apron to the front and sides. Ex...cellent rich colour and original patina, presented in immaculate condition. Measures 42.5" wide x 22" maximum depth x 39" high. Writing surface 28.5" high with good knee room below.
