A fine quality George III period engraved and fretted ladle with gilded bowl, hallmarked London 1802. The handle with rat tail design to the rear, the front engraved with a fern leaf design and family crest to the end. The bowl of the ladle with decorative fretwork to allow fluids to strain through and decorative engraving, original gilded finish. Bears the makers mark for London silversmith and flatware maker, regarded as one of the most important of the late 18th and early 19th century. Presented in excellent crisp condition with a rich polish. Measures 7" long x 2.5" wide x 2" deep ...at the bowl. Stock number 39187.
