A fine quality George IV period rat tail design silver basting or hash spoon hallmarked Exeter 1825. The immaculate spoon with oval bowl, rat tail to the rear at the base of the long stem terminating in a fiddle pattern handle. Clearly hallmarked to the stamp and bearing the makers mark for listed Exeter flatware maker George Ferris recorded making between 1812 and 1832, in particular a maker of ladles and spoons. Presented in immaculate condition with a deep shine. Measures 13" long x 4" across x 2.5" depth at the bowl. Stock number 38892.
