A fine quality George III mahogany stick barometer with engraved silvered scale and thermometer by H Andrews, Royston; fully restored c.1810. Architectural pediment to the top with glazed hinged door, sat over the beautifully engraved silvered scale. The slim proportioned case with moulded edge and turned cistern cover to the base. The silvered scale with sliding vernier marker and seven descriptive weather indicators, with a thermometer with five descriptive temperature indicators set to the left of the mercury action barometer tube. This fine stick barometer bears the... makers name H Andrews, Royston who is listed in Banfields book of barometer makers as working at High Street and Market Hill in Royston, Hertfordshire from 1800-1830. Superb original mellow colour and original patina to the casework, the movement fully overhauled and working. Presented in superb condition with a deep shine. Measures 38" long x 5.5" maximum width at the top with a 2.5" wide trunk x 1.5" maximum depth at the top. Stock number 40502.
