A fine quality early Victorian engraved silver vinaigrette with inverted sides and hanging loop to the top, hallmarked Birmingham 1857. Oblong form with decorative swept edges and inverted sides. Both sides and the edges of the case with superbly detailed engraving and small flange to side to aid opening. The hinged lid opening to reveal a gilded interior with engraved fretwork hinged cover to the base to hold the scented sponge in place. Bears the makers mark for Birmingham silversmith Alfred Taylor along with clear hallmarks to all sections. Presented in immaculate unused c...ondition with a deep shine. Measures 2" long x 1" wide x 0.5" deep. Stock number 42393.
