A superb large late Victorian carved oak long eared owl on rocky perch c.1900. Superbly carved in solid oak with wonderful detail throughout, including individually carved wings in flight and dark brown glass eyes to the detailed face. The owls claws holding a scroll with a Lain inscription set in a to the front 'In Arte Voluptas Londinium' - In art there is pleasure, London. Mounted on a rocky perch, the piece is designed for free standing if required. An unusual large statement piece presented in superb condition with a rich patina.
