A large Victorian brass bound rosewood writing slope with original fitted interior c.1850. The figured rosewood veneered exterior with brass reinforced corners and corner straps, matching brass bindings running front to back and engraved cartouche to the centre. The box opening and folding over to form a writing surface with black felt covered surface, each side opening to reveal an internal storage compartment. The larger compartment with three concealed drawers hidden behind a panel with hidden release catch. Shallow drawer set below secured shut with a locking pin only accessible when th...e slope is open. Pen and ink tray to one end of the interior with two original silver plated topped ink bottles and pen tray to the centre. Working lock and key to the Bramah lock along with the makers name Sampson Mordan. Presented in superb original condition with a deep shine and original patina.
