A Late 19th Century 9" plaster terrestrial globe.c.1890. Made by J.Forest of Paris.Turned ebonised pedestal base and brass axis support. Maker's label to the globe.Slight pen marks in places, no damage or repairs.Stands 18.5"high. *J. Forest made a large variety of globes in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In the early 20th century, J. Forest was apparently succeeded by the geographical publishing firm Girard & Barrère, which continued to offer "Globes Forest" at the same Rue de Buci address in Paris that Forest used.
