A fine original oil on canvas by Marcel Dyf 'Claudine in a hat'. Claudine sitting for the artist in a hat at at a table with a bowl of fruit, vase of flowers and wine of glass. An interesting and balanced composition with lovely bright colourings typical of Dyf's work. Dyf's paintings of his muse and later wife are some of the most sought after works. Signed by the artist in the bottom right corner. Marcel Dyf was born in Paris in 1899 and moved to Arles in 1922 to train as a painter, where he ...set up a studio. He exhibited extensively including in Paris and Cannes, where he attracted the attention of American collectors. In England his works were exhibited and sold through Frost & Reed in London.
