A small proportioned George III period 8 day oak cased longcase clock by highly regarded maker William Newby of Kendal c.1770. Fine quality engraved brass and silvere dial with date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial. The 8 day movement with anchor escapement striking on a bell on the hour. Quality Gillows of Lancaster oak and mahogany crossbanded case with arched top door flanked by quarter turned columns to the sides. The hood with a stepped moulded cornice and finely turned pillars to the front corners. Superb original condition with a rich colour and patina, serviced and in full... working order. 14" trunk width.
