A small proportioned George III period 8 day oak cased longcase clock by highly regarded maker William Newby of Kendal c.1770. Fine quality engraved brass and silver dial with date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial. The 8 day movement with anchor escapement striking a bell on the hour. Quality Gillows of Lancaster oak and mahogany crossbanded case with 14" width trunk and arched top door flanked by quarter turned columns to the sides. The hood with a stepped moulded cornice and finely turned pillars to the front corners. Superb original condition with a rich colour and patina, serv...iced and in full working order.
