An outstanding George II period country house oak dresser and rack with silhouette legs and fine quality blind fretwork decoration to the rack and base c.1750. The base top with moulded edge has a scalloped design border sat underneath. Six over three drawers to the base front; each with cockbead edges and original brass swan neck fittings. Baluster design silhouette legs sat to each end with blind fretwork panels above each front leg. Complementing three shelf rack with framed edge sat on the base section to the rear edge. The rack includes two concealed spice drawers and a charming frette...d edge 'mouse hole', which are located immediately below the rack's bottom shelf. Each side of the rack has three fretwork panels to match the base of the dresser. Moulded cornice to the top with dental moulding below. Superbly proportioned and detailed throughout with a wonderful mellow colour and rich patina. In our opinion the best dresser we have seen in over 40 years.
