An outstanding quality George II period silver mug with quilted design embossed decoration, hallmarked London 1730. The heavy quality mug with 2.75" diameter rim is slightly bellied towards the base with a flared foot below. The sides of the mug embossed with a cross hatched design, which gives a quilted effect; each 'quilt' section with a flower head design to the centre. Cartouche to one side of the mug and decorative cast silver handle with engraved thumb plate to the other. Gilt lined interior in excellent condition. Bears the makers mark for London silversmith William Darker, mug and t...ankard specialist, along with excellent clear hallmarks. Heavy quality weighing 6.7 troy oz and presented in immaculate damage free condition.
