An outstanding quality German silver and enamel cheroot case with a finely detailed enamel of a Romany woman smoking a cheroot to the front c.1900. Heavy quality with slightly curved sides, rounded edges and corners for comfort in the pocket, spring release catch with flange to the opposite side to aid opening. The front side with a superbly detailed enamel work design of a Romany woman smoking a cheroot in traditional costume. Opens to reveal a clean gilt lined interior. Bears German 800 silver marks along with the makers marks for Austrian born silversmith Georg Adam Scheild who worked in S...tuttgart between 1882 and 1911. Presented in superb original condition with no damage to the enamel work. Measures 2.75" wide x 3.5" high x 0.5" deep. Stock number 38681.
