An outstanding quality Regency period rosewood sofa table in the style of Edinburgh cabinet maker William Trotter c.1825. Oblong form with rounded corner drop leaves to each side. The surface with choice cut book matched rosewood veneers and fine beaded edges. Apron to the underside with the central panel forming a concealed drawer flanked by panels either side, which are decorated with acanthus leaf design carvings. Two pairs of fold out supporting arms to the front and rear underside of the table. These supporting arms hold the fold out table leaves in place when extended and al...so provide an extension to the apron, which gives a continuous appearance to the extended table. The table surface sat on a turned tapering single pedestal column with acanthus leaf design mount to the base. The four branch foot with beaded edge to match the surface and aprons. Superbly carved claw feet with scroll design mounts and original concealed brass castors to the undersides. The table design, details and quality is typical of highly regarded Edinburgh cabinet maker William Trotter 1772 - 1833, and is presented in superb condition with no cracks or warping and has a rich even colour and polish.
