A period oak six plank coffer with carved front dated 1658. The hand sawn solid oak panels with scalloped ends and moulded sides to the top, the ends with cut outs to the base forming a foot. Primitive carved front panel with diamond decoration and moulded top edge to match the lid, dated 1658. Steel lock plate and matching asp, forged steel hinges. Opens to reveal a clean interior with candle box to the side. Rich colour and patina, presented in good condition. Measures 36" long x 14" deep x 19" high. Stock number 38220.
