A quality late Victorian figured walnut pedestal desk with original tooled tan leather surface and engraved backplate brass drop handles c.1900. Large tan patinated leather writing surface with tooled edge, which is surrounded by an outer band of walnut with a moulded edge to the desk top. The writing surface sat immediately over three wide drawers, each with figured book matched veneers and crossbanding to the edges. Three graduated drawers to each pedestal with moulded plinth to the base and original bracket feet below. The desk has a gene...rous kneehole space, as well as figured book matched veneers to all sides and a polished back for free standing. Original condition and handles throughout, which have complementing escutcheons with working locks and keys, plus a superb colour and original patina. Separates into three pieces for moving. Very sturdy and Ideal for every day use, with a generous sized kneehole. Measures 59" wide x 28.75" deep x 29.5" high overall and 27" wide x 24" high at the kneehole. Stock number 42958.
