A fine quality Regency period figured mahogany cased month duration regulator longcase clock with silvered dial by John Morse of Southampton c.1810. The fine London quality figured mahogany case with moulded cornice to the hood and quartered veneers around the circular cast brass glazed dial door; brass frets to the sides. The slim trunk with canted corners and figured veneered broken arch door. Panelled base with moulded plinth below forming the foot. Engraved circular silvered dial with subsidiary seconds dial set to the top half of the main dial, with original blued steel hands. The fine... quality movement with shaped plates and dead beat escapement, rare month duration between each winding. John Morse is recoding on Southampton in the late C18th and previously in the Isle of Wight. Superb quality and original condition with a deep shine to the case, fully overhauled and working movement. Measures 78.5" high x 18" wide at the cornice x 9" deep. Stock number CS 158.
