A fine quality early Victorian rosewood and brass bound writing slope with superb fitted interior by collected maker Sampson Mordan c.1860. The polished figured rosewood veneered exterior with brass bound edges and corners, Cartouche to the centre of the top and barrel lock escutcheon to the front. The box opening to form a writing slope with brass trimmed edges to match the exterior and original fitments. The writing surface with original tooled red leather, the lids on each side opening with storage compartments below; the deeper side with three secret drawers behind a spr...ing release panel. Removable pen tray to the front with two original silver plated top travelling ink wells set to either side. Bramah lock bearing the makers name Sampson Mordan to the front edge.
