A late Victorian solid silver salt scuttle by highly regarded maker Sampson Mordan, hallmarked London 1899. Formed in the style of a coal scuttle with fared rim to the base, swing handle to the top and small handle to the rear; rolled rim to the front edge. The interior with the original unused gilt finish. Bears the makers mark for Sampson Mordan specialist in unusual novelty items. An unusual item presented in immaculate unused condition. Measures 3" high or 3.75" with handle up x 2.25" wide x 3.5" high. Stock number 40125.
