A Small Antique George III period oak cased painted dial 8 day longcase clock by William Wills of Truro. c.1790. Slim proportioned high quality oak case with swan neck pediment to the hood and reeded columns to the sides. Long door with unusual centre lock mechanism, reeded quarter columns to the sides. Sat on the original shaped plinth foot. Original painted dial with Roman numerals and strawberry blossom decoration to the corners with relief gilt work. Seconds hand and date aperture to the 8 day bell striking movement with anchor escapement. Very original throughout with superb colour and or...iginal patina. Fully overhauled movement. Measures 81" tall x maximum width 17.5" x 9" deep. Stock number 34264.
