A small fine quality George V period tortoise shell carriage clock with silver gilt fittings by highly regarded maker William Comyns, hallmarked London 1912. The figured tortoise shell case with rounded corners and edges, convex enamel dial to the front with Roman numerals and blued steel hands, matching glass and silver gilt bezel. Hinged scroll design carrying handle to the top and complementing silver gilt bun feet to the base. Clasp to the side for releasing the rear door, which opens to reveal a silver gilt hinge and Paris made movement with platform escapement.&nbs...p;Bears the makers mark for highly regarded London silversmith William Comyns along with clear hallmarks. Presented in superb condition with immaculate fittings and a deep polish to the case, fully serviced and working. Measures 2.25" wide x 2" deep x 3.75" high or 4.75" high with handle up.
