A superb and unusually wide George III period oak planked top 8 seat refectory table with turned cannon pedestal legs and H base stretcher c.1760. The thick and wide proportioned planked top with doweled joints and cleated ends, the top overlapping the base to allow seating at each end. The table surface sat on a moulded top rail, which has substantial turned cannon design legs set to each corner; which are supported by an H base stretcher. Superb original rich colour and patina throughout, the table seats 3 to 4 people each side and 1 at each end with ease, and with ample knee room.
