A Superb Late Victorian antique mahogany three drawer filing cabinet made by Amberg for the English market.c.1890. Fielded panel sign written front. Figured walnut interior; three pull out drawers with brass handles and sign written tabs. Working lock & key. Superb colour and patina. Measures 16.5" x 13.5"deep x 18"high.
*Cameron Amberg & Co. was established in 1868 and made its first Cabinet Letter Files in 1875. In 1881, 1,000 firms were using its cabinets. By 1893, the company name changed to Amberg Letter & File Co. Its letter filing cabinets had patent dates from 1878 to 1896.
