A superbly crafted solid brass 'trench art' planter made from a First World War German shell case in the Art Nouveau style. Circular form and fashioned from the thick solid brass shell case; the panels on the side embossed with flowers and leaves set against a finely punched background. Scalloped rim to the top with punched edge. Marked Dusseldorf and dated 1917 to the base. A superb piece of work presented in immaculate condition with a deep shine, very heavy. Measures 8.5" diameter at the rim x 9" diameter at the base x 9" high. Stock number 42596.
