A superb George II period oak planked top 12 seat refectory table with turned bulbous cup and cover legs and H base stretcher c.1730. The five board plank top with cleated ends overlapping the base to allow seating at each end. The table surface sat on a moulded edge top rail repeated to all four sides and carved corbels at the ends. Bulbous turned and carved 'cup & cover' legs set to each corner, which are supported by an H base stretcher. Wonderful rich colour and patina throughout, the table seats 5 people each side and 1 at each end with ease and with ample knee room. Presente...d in excellent original condition, very sturdy and usable. Knee clearance at the sides 24" and 27.25" at each end.
