Superb George II Oak 12 Seat Refectory Table
A superb George II period oak planked top 12 seat refectory table with turned bulbous cup and cover legs and H base stretcher c.1730. The five board plank top with cleated ends overlapping the base to allow seating at each end. The table surface sat on a moulded edge top rail, repeated to all four sides and carved corbels at the ends. Bulbous turned and carved 'cup & cover' legs set to each corner, which are supported by an H base stretcher. The table seats with ease 5 people to each side and 1 at each end, and with ample knee room. Wonderful rich colour and patina throughout,&nbs...p; presented in excellent original condition, very sturdy and usable. Knee clearance of 24" at the sides and 27.25" at each end.
