A superb quality Victorian carved oak cased aneroid barometer with porcelain dial and skeletonised movement c.1885. The solid English oak case decorated with carved Autumn fruits and leaves, turned mount to the centre holding the barometer dial and movement. Visible skeletonised movement set to the centre with porcelain scale set around the edge marking the weather predictions. Quarter plate bevel edge glazed view window with central reading marker, mounted in a cast polished brass bezel. Bears the makers mark for highly regarded London maker, Gregory & Co; barometer makers to the ...Admiralty, British Government, War Dept and National Rifle Association.
