A Superb & Rare Mid 19th Century rosewood cased marine stick barometer.c.1860. Silvered engraved inverted scales with double vernier marker for yesterday and today. Rare sympiesometer to the centre(patented by Adie in 1818 showing connection between air pressure and temperature). Original brass gimble fixing to the wall. Brass cistern cover to the base. Made by D.McGregor & Co of Glasgow, Greenock and Liverpool (working 1856-1900). Fully overhauled. Measures 36"long x 6"wide x 10"deep. Stock no.26502.
