A superb quality and very collectable Edwardian solid silver Shibayama work cheroot case decorated with a centipede and beetles, hallmarked Birmingham 1910. The solid silver case slightly curved in form with rounded sides and corners. The front superbly inlaid with Shibayama work insects and beetles with a centipede to the centre in mother of pearl and tortoise shell; the legs and tentacles engraved into the silver. Push release button to the side, the case opening to reveal a gilt lined interior with retaining straps to hold the cheroots in place. Bears the makers mark for Birmin...gham silversmiths Horace Woodward & Co along with clear hallmarks to all sections. Presented in excellent condition with a deep shine and no damage. Measures 3.25" long x 2.75" wide x 0.5" deep. Stock number 43052.
