A superb French silver vinaigrette with enameled scene to the lid and engine turned back c.1900. Circular form with the lid superbly engraved and enamels with a young couple sat in a meadow with goats seated either side. The sides with floral engraving and the rear with an engine turned sunburst. Small flange to the front of the lid to aid opening; the lid opening to reveal a gilded interior with rotaing disk. Small holes and a larger hole in the disk, one to allow the scented sponge to be inserted and the other small holes to allow the perfume to escape. Superb quality and condition, ...no silver marks but tested as silver. Beautifully made and presented in immaculate condition. Measures 2" diameter x 0.25" deep. Stock number 42398.
