A small proportioned George III period mahogany four drawer secretaire chest in wonderful original condition c.1770. Figured mahogany top with moulded edge sat over four graduated drawers each with figured veneers and cockbeaded edges. The top drawer with fitted interior and fall front; pulling out to form a writing surface. The back of the interior fitted with a row of six pigeon holes and one long drawer flanked by two smaller drawers. Figured timber sides, moulded plinth to the base with original bracket feet below. Original brass handles with matching back plates and lock escutcheo...ns. Oak interiors to the drawers and original steel locks with working lock and key to the secretaire drawer. Presented in superb original condition with a rich original colour and patina. Measures 31" wide x 18.75" deep x 31.5" high and 26" high to writing surface when opened x 11" deep. Stock number 42135.
