A superb quality Victorian Glasgow silver wine jug or ewer with fine quality embossed decoration and gilt lined interior, hallmarked Glasgow 1896. The bulbous base flowing into a narrow neck with flared spout to one side and scrole design handle sat high to the other side. The base section of the jug with embossed and engraved scrole and flower head design decoration. The neck with a polished finish which is complimented by a deep embossed and engraved boarder sat below the rim. Matching hinged lid sat inside the spout with decoration to match the jug and scrole design handle for lifting th...e lid. The lid and the interior with original immaculate gilt finish to prevent discolouration during use. Bears the makers mark for Glasgow silversmiths Robert Stewart along with clear hallmarks to all sections. Superb detail and quality and Weighs in at over 18.3 troy oz and presented in immaculate useable condition.
