A superb quality Victorian solid silver tea caddy with embossed decoration weighing in at 5.3 troy oz by highly regarded maker William Comyns, hallmarked London 1898. Square form with clipped corners, the bottom half of the caddy embossed with fine quality decoration depicting Doves entwined in scrole design relief. The top of the base rising slightly with circular collar to the centre. Scrole design boarder to the edge of the lid with gadrooned domed top, pineapple finial to the centre forming a handle. Bears the makers mark for highly regarded silversmiths William Comyns along with clear ...hallmarks to all sections. Weighing in at 5.3 troy oz and presented in immaculate condition with a deep shine. Measures 3.25" wide x 2.25" deep x 4.75" high. Stock number 42617.
